Fencing is also called modern fencing which is an art or practice of fighting, attack and defense with the sword, esp. with the small sword or is also defined as family of combat sports using bladed weapons.

There are three types of weapons which are used in sport of fencing which are named as Foil, Sabre, and Epee. Foil means a light thrusting weapon that targets the upper body, Sabre is a light cutting and thrusting weapon that targets the entire body above the waist, except for the hands and Epee is a heavier thrusting weapon that targets the entire body.
The purpose of fencing is to successfully achieve a set number of points on your challenger sooner than he scores that number on you. Each valid hit scores one or more points and Points are gained by getting touches on your challenger. A bout is usually 3-4 minutes for 5 point bouts and for 15 point bouts 3, 3 minute sessions are allocated.

In 1896 first Men fencing was introduced in the modern Olympic Games while first women's fencing was included at the in the modern Olympic Games in 1924.
